Wow its Been Forever!!!

It has been a very long time since I have blogged. I almost feel like apart of me is missing because I have not been able to update, nor check my blog for 2 months!!! Ahhh what a relief it is to have the Internet, we weren't able to get our cables hooked up because of all the snow we had in our neighborhood. Then we just got it hooked up here in Denver. That's right I said Denver!! We are already 2 weeks into our SUMMER!! Let me just give some highlights since the last time I wrote. We moved into our house, and we LOVE it so much. It was one of the hardest things to do in leaving it. We had a good month in it, and it was so great. We still haven't completely unpacked yet, but I just shoved all the unpacked boxes downstairs so it appears to be all done! =) Then after a month in our new home, we went and drove to Denver with Max, the kids and both cars. It was actually a really short trip comparatively to previous summers. It is great to live so close. We drove to Denver then the very next day hopped on a plane and went home to celebrate uncle Nate getting married. We had a great time being with all the family, and we had fun welcoming in our new sister Luisa. They are now out here selling for the summer! Then after we got back from selling we just jumped right into the summer. That's when it all happened for me.... I like to call it a major lapse in judgement. The saying "Your mother is always right," still applies when you are 26 years old and think you have your life somewhat under control. WRonG!! SUPER WRONG!

We started looking at puppies about 3 weeks ago. We had been tossing the idea back and forth for a while and thought the summer would be a great time cause it will be trained on our apartment carpet, and not our new house carpet. We had been to the pet stores several times thinking that it would be fun to raise a little, sweet, baby dog. HA! (I think Kami can really start to relate about now) So we decided that we wanted a malti-poo. (That is Maltese and Poodle mix) So I decided to see if there were breeders here in Denver. Of course there was, so me and the kids chose this one breeder and went and looked at her litter. Of course they were sweet, of course they were cute. They even had a little tan boy one, just like we were looking for. (We thought it would take a while to find a tan one because Malti-Poo's are generally white or cream) We just got Lucky! ;) So we thought he was cute, and Jake came over from work and saw him and loved him, and we decided to sleep on it one more night. Well about 12:00 the next day guess who was going to pick up the little guy? ME. The one that has never had a pet other than a guinea pig that died of neglect when I was 7. And we have had a few unfortunate fish. Fish just don't do well in our home. (Do they Mom?) So I haven't had the best of pet luck, but for some reason a puppy would be different. I don't think I have ever been so completely wrong about something in my life. Its all great and exciting the whole building up to the event, even picking him up was exciting! However there is this point when you bring them home and you ask yourself....Now What?? I had absolutely NO idea what I was to do from that point. I had bought all the things that Petsmart told me to buy. I had 5 books and even a DVD to tell me how to raise this dog. And I still feel in the dark completely. (Sorry this is so long, I am documenting for posterity, feel free to skip ahead)

SO...we get him home and the first thing he does is pees on the carpet. So I put him in his little crate and what does he do, he pees in that. Great! So from that point on it was only about 2:00 and Jake wouldn't be home till about 5:00. So I had to think of something to do with this dog till he came home. So I thought that I would put him on his leash and take him for a walk. (I did pretty much everything wrong that first day) Ohh I forgot to mention that he was only 6 weeks old never been outside and never been away from his mother or sisters. Why I thought the big outside world on a leash would be a great thought I have no idea. He didn't know how to walk on a leash and I thought there was something wrong with this little dog. I learned later that you have to teach them absolutely everything. It is slightly worse then experiencing child rearing for the first time. With a baby they wear diapers and there your own flesh and blood. Dogs do all the things infants do but I was much more clueless. So I decided to pick him up and just carry him to the park. His poor little heart was beating a mile a minute. I new we were both petrified by this point. The kids were loving every minute of it though. So while I am watching the kids play on the playground I notice that the puppy is licking my shirt. Then I noticed the huge spot of vomit he had left me. I just got up shook my head, summond the kids and we went home. Home is where we stayed the rest of the night. I didn't dare go anywhere cause the poor little thing would cry everytime we left the room. Our first night we put him in the bathroom and he yelped all night long. It was aweful.

It is now a week later and we are doing much better. Everyday I still debate whether or not we are going to keep our little Hobbs (we named him Hobbs after Calvin and Hobbs) I have to at least got to the classified adds once a day and right the add for a puppy for sale and not press send. I just don't know what I was thinking!!! Gracie is completley in love with this dog. She is up at 6:30 when we are to take him outside. She was up at 4:30 when we had to go out at 4:30. She is very responsible with this little puppy. Ben and Nate could really care less I think. They love him but they could be happy going to the pet store or going to the zoo just the same. We took him to the Vet and I guess he has roundworm, something very common in puppies, they get it from there mother. It takes 4 weeks to completely cure, so no mouth to mouth contact till then. Darn... This is the most taboo experience of my life. I am not a dog person, I havn't ever been into dogs ever. My mother told me never to get a dog. The weird thing is who does it love the most??? ME...Arg.. that doesn't help one bit. It was all about the pressure, and they're so darn cute and sweet at first. So I think that this will be an on going blog event so I had to update you on where I sort of stand in this whole situation. I will be sure to keep you posted on the happenings of Hobbs. IF you have read Kami's blog she did the right thing right from the start. So to make a long story short, if you want to know anything about raising a brand new puppy. I am a vault of knowledge, and will be glad to warn you all you want!! =) Here are just some random pictures of the kids and of our little Hobbs.

P.S we just really cute Nates hair for the first time on Monday. What do you think??
